Our Journey, Part 2: The Decision

The Easy Part, As It Turns Out.

December 2010 - After letting fear dictate my world & ignoring glaring promptings to look into foster care for about a year, I reluctantly attended an orientation meeting at foster+adoption agency.  I left feeling 100% positive that this is what were meant to do.  The clarity there was intense.  Realization:  This is not our plan B.  This is our plan A realized.  I just had to listen through the jumble of fear & panic.  It took me awhile to hear it.

January 2011 - Started PRIDE training classes; Took CPR, First Aide training, & medication training.

February-April 2011 - Finished PRIDE; got background checks, fingerprints taken, fire & health inspections for the home, took classes on SIDS, behavior interventions & de-escalation techniques, submitted references, completed interviews for homestudy.

April 13, 2011 - Completed homestudy & became licensed foster parents.
